Q. Do I need Planning Permission for my new DIY Conservatory?
A. In most cases the average conservatory would not need Planning Permission. Please see our Planning section to help determine whether you may need Planning approval. Please don't forget, if you do need planning permission then we can deal with it on your behalf for a nominal fee.

Q. Do I need Building Regs approval for my new DIY Conservatory?
A. Again the answer is usually no, as long as the conservatory is under 30m² and it meets some additional criteria.

Q. There is a manhole where I would like to build the conservatory, can I build over it?
A. There are a number of solutions to this problem. If you building a Traditional Brick Base then the manhole will need to be either sealed using a double seal manhole cover, or relocated to another position. With either of these options you will need to seek approval from your Local Building Control Office.
If you are purchasing a Durabase from us then we can fabricate the base to avoid your manhole, in addition a hatch could be used in the floor to access it.

Q. What style and size can I have my conservatory?
A. You can have almost any style and size you can dream of, providing of course that it is technically possible, whilst satisfying Building Controls rules and regulations. We have put together some handy advice along with illustrations of the most popular styles in our Design section. You must also take into account your conservatory should be in-keeping with style and period of your property.

Q. How can I be sure my conservatory will fit my base?
A. Don’t worry, all of our DIY Conservatories are ‘made to measure’ and individual to you. We will provide you with detailed plans of all the critical dimensions that you will need to construct your dream conservatory. Full base plans will be provided for your builder to work from with clear and concise information. If you are purchasing a Durabase system from us then it will be fabricated to the exact measurements of your conservatory above it. We can also supply just the frames and roof to fit onto a base you have existing from an old conservatory.

Q. What glazing specification should I choose?
A. There are many choices of glazing for your frames and conservatory roof, from decorative patterns to solar control. You will find more information in the Glazing and Options pages. It is however crucial that your new conservatory is energy efficient, as a badly designed conservatory can be a huge energy drain on your house as a whole. DIY Supply Conservatories supply energy efficient Low-E glazing as standard in your frame and roof glazing, but please be aware many other companies will only supply you the bear minimum of standard glass which is not as energy efficient.

Q. How soon can I get my DIY Conservatory?
A. We can usually deliver your DIY Conservatory to anywhere in mainland UK from 14 days after the final confirmation of your order. If you are ordering a Durabase system then the lead time for this is usually 3-4 weeks, so we will schedule the conservatory deliver to suit your needs. Please ask if you require any more information as we are very flexible to your needs.

A. No, not at all. If you have basic DIY skills and some common sense then you should be able to complete the install competently. To guide you through we provide detailed, easy to follow, step by step installation instructions. In addition you will receive a DVD that covers the installation of many styles of conservatories.
